Question:

  Dear George

I was just reading Anne's comments about mirroring. I have known about it prior to taking Omega One, however, it's always a good reminder. My question was regarding projections, ie. projecting onto others the unwanted parts of our psyche or split personality. In other words, if I'm being treated unkindly by someone, it is not necessarily because I identify directly with the cause of this unhappiness. However, if I choose to become involved, I am in fact nurturing someone else's wound. I can also throw my wound in their direction. In this manner, we are exchanging projections, correct? It is not always clear to me however, when it is mirroring versus projecting that is in fact happening. Is this something you teach in Omega Two or perhaps Four? Could you please comment? Thank you.

Answer:

Dear Elena-

Thanks for the question. I did not fully comprehend what you are asking, nor what you heard someone say. I do agree that we strive to project our issues onto others and we absorb their issues onto ourselves. It's akin to voodoo, its spells and necromancy, and people do it to each other endlessly under a different name. If this continues it pollutes us like a stagnant body of water, and it is cumulative, meaning that it can eventually pollute a single life, a family, a community, a nation, or a planet with the "incestuous" act of projecting and absorbing this energy.

We are vulnerable from the fact that we take things personal . . . we give meaning to what others project on us, and personalize it. To learn the art of becoming transpersonal is the only remedy I know of. It does not require a lot of therapy, reading, or any of the assorted rituals or exorcisms, cleansing, and developing defenses. One must simply learn to separate the events of life from the experience of them. It's inappropriate to do an exegesis on this by email, so I simply wish to see if you are alert to the topic. If you are you will take the initiative to pursue it more fully. If you are not then your future is predictable. Thanks for the trust.

Question:

I was told by a therapist that when I felt other peoples pain, grief, or sadness that it wasn't about their pain etc it was about my pain. Those feelings he told me, are coming from inside of you and they are not about someone else. I was rather confused about his insight but since taking Omega One and processing am beginning to see the message behind the words. What do you think?

-Anne

Answer:

Dear Anne-

I think you are beginning to make some new strides. Your counselor is very wise. Your pain is yours. Mine is mine. This applies to all levels. If you hit your thumb with a hammer I will not feel it. If I am invested in feeling your pain I must hit my own thumb. Many of us seem to do this all too often. Thanks for growing.

George
